Checking your Knowledge Builder topology

General considerations

The Knowledge Builder is built on a Client\Server architecture providing a minimal client footprint and an optimized data structure that minimizes network traffic loads. It does not require a discrete file server or web server. Virtually any computer can serve as the Knowledge Builder Server or Knowledge Builder client. The following table lists the minimum recommended computer platforms for operating the Knowledge Builder Client and Server components.

Flexible topology schemes

The Knowledge Builder's client/server architecture supports flexible topology schemes. The following Figure illustrates examples of how the Knowledge Builder topologies can be associated with a generic Process Control System.

The client-side of the Knowledge Builder may be located on any compatible computer platform. In the following Figure, Knowledge Builder:
